EFI USA was founded in South Carolina in 1993 by Dennis Shanklin. Three decades later, our Gaston headquarters remains the operational center of the company, housing our largest fabrication facility, engineering team, and corporate offices. South Carolina's central East Coast location provides rapid access to projects throughout the Southeast and beyond.
The Carolinas are the heart of US poultry production. EFI has installed biogas capture systems for major processors including Perdue Farms and Wayne-Sanderson. Our flagship Perdue Lewiston project in eastern North Carolina demonstrates the scale of poultry wastewater biogas capture, achieving 95% GHG emission reduction.
EFI has completed geosynthetic installations for federal agencies including NASA Kennedy Space Center, US Army Corps of Engineers projects, and military installations. Our proximity to major East Coast military bases and government facilities makes South Carolina an ideal base for government contract work.
The Port of Charleston is one of the busiest container ports on the East Coast. EFI provides containment and liner solutions for port expansion projects, dredge containment, and marine infrastructure throughout the South Carolina coast and Southeast port system.
Our 15,000 square foot Gaston fabrication facility is the company's primary manufacturing center. Here we custom-fabricate geosynthetic panels, assemble gas collection systems, and quality-test every component before it ships to project sites. Combined with our Texas and California hubs, total annual fabrication capacity exceeds 10.9 million square feet.
Southeast Services
Covered lagoon digesters for poultry processing, swine, and agricultural operations. The Southeast's largest poultry processors trust EFI for biogas capture and methane destruction.
Geosynthetic liner systems for US Army Corps of Engineers, NASA, Department of Defense, and other federal and state agency projects requiring military-grade containment.
Liner and containment systems for port facilities, marine terminals, and coastal infrastructure. Engineered for the corrosive saltwater environment of the Southeast coast.
15,000 square foot fabrication facility at Gaston HQ. Custom panel fabrication, quality-controlled welding, and direct shipping to project sites across the Southeast and nationwide.
HDPE and LLDPE liner systems for manufacturing facilities, chemical plants, and industrial operations throughout South Carolina and neighboring states.
Lagoon liners, floating covers, and odor control systems for municipal wastewater treatment facilities across the Carolinas and Southeast.

Featured Project
One of the largest poultry processing biogas capture systems on the East Coast. EFI designed and installed a covered lagoon digester with complete gas collection and enclosed flare system at Perdue Farms' Lewiston, North Carolina facility.
The system achieves 95% GHG emission reduction from the facility's wastewater lagoons, capturing methane that previously vented directly to the atmosphere. The project demonstrates the scalability of CLD technology for large-scale food processing operations.
