Case Study
Perdue Farms — Lewiston, NC
Comprehensive biogas capture system for one of the largest poultry processing operations in the Southeast.
The Challenge
Problem
Perdue's Lewiston facility generated significant biogas from poultry processing wastewater lagoons, contributing to odor complaints and GHG emissions. The facility needed a solution that would reduce environmental impact while maintaining operational efficiency.
Our Approach
Solution
EFI installed a covered lagoon anaerobic digester system with HDPE geomembrane cover, enclosed flare, cloud-based monitoring, and O2 injection for H2S removal. The system captures biogas from processing wastewater and destroys methane through high-efficiency enclosed flaring.
Outcomes
Results & Metrics
Key Outcomes
- 95% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
- 120,000+ tons CO2e avoided per year
- Eliminated odor complaints from surrounding community
- Won 2025 US Poultry Association Clean Water Award
- Real-time cloud monitoring with automated alerts
“The EFI system completely transformed our environmental profile. We went from fielding odor complaints weekly to winning a national clean water award. The ROI exceeded every projection.”
