Why HDPE
HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is the most widely specified pond liner material because it seals water in, holds up to sun and chemicals, and lasts for decades. For projects on uneven or settling ground, EFI also installs more flexible LLDPE and PVC liner systems.
A welded HDPE membrane stops seepage and water loss, keeping water in the pond and contaminants out of the soil and groundwater below.
HDPE is chemically inert and non-toxic, the same material trusted for aquaculture and potable water. Seams are welded, never glued, so no solvents touch the water.
UV-stabilized formulations with 2%+ carbon black resist sunlight, agricultural runoff, and most industrial chemicals without degrading.
