Lagoon Liners

A lagoon liner is an impermeable geosynthetic membrane installed across the floor and slopes of a waste, wastewater, or storage lagoon to keep liquids from seeping into the soil and groundwater below. EFI installs HDPE, LLDPE, and reinforced geomembrane liners for agricultural manure lagoons, municipal wastewater lagoons, and industrial process lagoons. Most lagoons use 40 to 60 mil HDPE or LLDPE. Agricultural manure lagoons are commonly lined with 40 to 60 mil; municipal and regulated lagoons often require 60 mil or more. LLDPE is selected for soft or settling subgrades because of its flexibility, while HDPE is chosen for maximum chemical resistance. EFI specifies the material and thickness after a site assessment of your subgrade, waste chemistry, and regulatory requirements.

Yes. EFI relines failing clay, asphalt, and aging geomembrane lagoons by installing a new liner system, often over the existing surface without full excavation. Field extrusion welding repairs localized tears and seam defects. Relining restores containment and extends the lagoon's service life at a fraction of the cost of building new.

Geosynthetic lagoon liners are the standard for meeting NRCS practice standards, state agricultural waste rules, and EPA containment requirements.
