Case Study
Geosynthetic-lined sludge storage lagoon for the new Arlington Wastewater Treatment Plant with textured HDPE liner.
The Challenge
The Town of Arlington needed a new wastewater treatment plant with a 328,000 SF geosynthetic-lined Sludge Storage Lagoon. The lagoon's purpose was to treat sludge pumped from the SBR building, requiring a durable liner material that could withstand the chemical and biological demands of sludge treatment with aerators operating in the lagoon.
Our Approach
EFI was chosen to install a 60 mil textured HDPE liner for the 328,000 SF sludge storage lagoon. The textured material was selected to provide superior friction on the lagoon slopes. Aerators were placed in the lagoon for treatment. The geomembrane work was started in late summer and completed on schedule.
Outcomes
“EFI delivered a reliable lagoon liner that has held up under continuous sludge treatment operations. The textured HDPE was the right call for our slope conditions.”
