Case Study
Landfill cell expansion with HDPE liner and leachate collection system, enabling continuous operation without disrupting existing refuse intake.
The Challenge
Crisp County's existing landfill cell was filling up and additional space was required to continue receiving refuse. The expansion required constructing and lining a new cell adjacent to the existing one without disrupting ongoing daily operations.
Our Approach
EFI installed a 60 mil smooth HDPE liner over the subgrade with a tie-in to the existing liner and 800 linear feet of berm flap. EFI also supplied and installed 6-inch diameter leachate collection piping and sumps. The engineer specified the cell expansion design to integrate seamlessly with the existing landfill infrastructure.
Outcomes
“EFI completed the liner installation without disrupting our daily operations. The new cell was accepting refuse immediately upon completion.”
