The Challenge
Problem
Massanutten Public Service Company needed an overflow pond for additional peak-flow storage during a wastewater treatment plant upgrade. Soil conditions limited the pond depth, so the design included deeper excavations at the aerator locations.
Our Approach
Solution
EFI installed 149,000 SF of 60 mil smooth HDPE liner and 130,000 SF of 8 oz. nonwoven geotextile. The liner was custom fitted at the varying aerator depths, with concrete pads placed over the liner in those areas. Robert G. Burgin, Jr., Inc. provided process and civil design. The case history identifies the installation as October 2005.
