The Challenge
Problem
Packaging Corporation of America evaluated biogas recovery from four existing anaerobic basins. The project began with a partial cover, then expanded through additional phases as the recovery system was developed.
Our Approach
Solution
EFI fabricated and installed the floating covers using Seaman 8130 XR-5 material. The case history lists Phase 1 as one 140 ft by 107 ft cover, Phase 2 as three 140 ft by 107 ft covers, and Phase 3 as four 248 ft by 107 ft covers. Work ran from May 2002 through January 2007. The historical account describes a pipeline to the plant and use of recovered methane as an alternative fuel for production boilers.
