Tank Liners

A tank liner is a flexible geomembrane installed inside a steel, concrete, or bolted storage tank to create a watertight, chemically resistant barrier. Tank liners rehabilitate leaking or corroded tanks and provide a clean, inert surface for potable water, process water, and industrial liquids without the cost of replacing the tank itself.

Yes. For potable water storage, EFI installs NSF/ANSI 61 certified liner materials that are safe for contact with drinking water. Seams are heat-welded rather than glued, so no solvents or adhesives ever contact the stored water. This makes a tank liner a reliable way to bring an aging potable water tank back into safe service.

Yes. A flexible membrane liner is installed inside the existing tank, sealing cracks, corrosion, and leaking seams. Relining restores the tank to service at a fraction of the cost of replacement and can extend its useful life by decades, with seams that remain field-repairable.

Tank liners use flexible geomembranes such as reinforced polypropylene (RPP) or PVC, or NSF 61 certified materials for potable water, typically in the 30 to 60 mil range. EFI selects the material based on the stored liquid, the tank geometry, and applicable code requirements after assessing the tank and its contents.

EFI lines bolted and welded steel tanks, concrete tanks and basins, potable water storage tanks and reservoirs, fire-suppression and water-storage tanks, and secondary containment for tank farms. Liners are fabricated to the tank's dimensions and field-welded to fit the geometry, including penetrations and fittings.

A properly installed tank liner provides 20+ years of service depending on the material, the stored contents, and exposure conditions. Because seams are field-repairable, periodic inspection and minor maintenance can extend service life well beyond the initial design period.
